For anyone who hasn't seen Velvet Revolver in concert, I would deffinately say to go and check them out. While Guns n Roses is in a class of its own, Stone Temple Pilots are rather underrated and are easily among the cream of 90's bands that released an album. Weilands vocals and stage presence live really make you feel like you're at an honest to God rock show, and Slash is well, fucking Slash. The dude rips in person. While Revolver's catalogue may not be very extensive they do have some kick ass songs, and they also don't turn their backs to their respective roots. "Vasoline," "Sextype thing," and "Interstate Love Song" were the STP songs that they played live as well as "It's so easy," (rocked) "patience" (sick) and "Mr. Brownstone" (so fucking good). It was also good to see that Weiland wasn't trying to be Axl or even trying to one up him vocally, it was just Weiland's take on the GNR songs, and he pulled it off. What really brought it all home was how they got the crowd going and introduced the band to the stage. "You wanted the best? Well you fucking got it! Live, from Hollywood, Velvet Revolver!" Anyone who has listend to the Guns n Roses live album knows what I'm talking about. You can hate if you want, but its much better than anything Axl is every going to do by himself.
