Milestones

October 2007 seems like a long time ago, and a lot sure has changed since then. The Red Sox were on their way to another World Series, the Boston Celtics were assembling the pieces to become the best team in the Eastern Conference, and the New England Patriots were still the best team in football. I was a little younger, a little less wise, had a little bit less body hair. But, we here at ROOMOFZEN had a vision. Drawing on our passions for sports, music, and pop-culture commentary we decided to give this blog thing a try. I'm pretty sure that over the first month or so, LaRocque and I accounted for 97% of our page views We were like young lions on the scene of a kill, licking at the carcass, not sure what to tear away from the skeleton, if that makes any sense. We weren't sure if anyone would read our posts, but we hoped that someone might occasionally stumble by and enjoy our viewpoints and youtube video posts; that we might serve as some kind of touchstone for sportsfans looking to make sense of this crazy world that we are living in or to bring some of our experiences, opinions, triumphs and tragedies to you, our readers.
.
This weekend we have surpassed several milestones: our 5,000th visit to our page and our 200th post. Along the way we have sought to continually improve our "product", adding such features as the NBA scoreboard, links of interest (or not), another voice in Ballgame (TL to the readers), and such staples as Foil in the Oven, The Babcock Report, and the random Gilby posting, which never fails to leave me enlightened on the world of hardcore/metal and smiling from ear to ear. I still often think of Gilby in his wetsuit during one of our ocean jumps during the winter of 2004-2005, if a human has ever looked more like a walrus (in a really badass way), then I would be shocked.
.
Latest statistics suggest that we are now receiving visits to the page from 200+ unique individuals every couple of weeks. I think I speak for all of us when I say, SICK. Its a humbling experience that you guys have stopped by once, if not several times to visit our site. Its also inspiring. We are now clearing the last few cold gray days of winter and making the turn towards summer, it is a great time to be alive. There are so many things to look forward to in the world of sports, and we will do our best to be there every step of the way. As always, we encourage any and all reader participation, we have in the past even published the rantings of one crazed man named Mason Cajka, who occasionally emails single sentences like "eat a pig fetus", or "your blog must die". We have also received several coherent and interesting emails, for what its worth. We hope to receive more in the days and weeks to come (oracle@roomofzen.com). Anyway, I've already said too much... THANK YOU.

I am humbled to be a part of this kick-ass group of men.

I can only hope we continue attracting new readers and expanding our horizons.
