The Team Sampler

Although the warmth of a Super Bowl championship has helped to soften the transition, the prospect of another cold and windy February without any NFL news does not sit well with any of us here at Room of Zen. We love all sports. We're all excited to bring you extensive basketball coverage throughout the rest of the NBA and college basketball seasons. We're excited to talk baseball with you. But, really, nothing does it for us like football. In fact, I think that the best part of having this blog will come this summer when we get to do fantasy football previews, and predictions about how the season will unfold. I've always wanted to work for magazines that did that. Soon enough, draft day will be upon us and we will have the pleasure of mocking Mel Kiper (even though we would all kill for his job) and bringing you comprehensive coverage of this year's draft, including draft grades.

Room of Zen has built a great deal of momentum during the football season, and we are now over 2000 readers. However, Social Darwinism suggests that we must do everything in our power to evolve during this period of non-NFL action, otherwise we will die out. This means a heavy emphasis on college hoop and Celtics action. However, we will never be able to completely abandon the NFL. This is why I'm pleased to unveil our new segment, The Team Sampler.

If you have been to Winner's then you know what I'm talking about when I say Team Sampler. I'm talking of course about a combination basket of stuffed jalapenos, cheese quesadillas,
chicken fingers, fried ravioli, mozzarella sticks and fries with 3 dipping sauces for only 8.99. Intended as an appetizer to be split between four, we will never get tired of the horrible look the waitress gave each of us as she brought one for each of us only to hear us say "we'll order our meals at halftime." It was perhaps dipping the fried raviolis in the honey mustard sauce that really made this basket a unique delight. It is honor of this great sports bar and their well-portioned platters that we name our new segment the Team Sampler.

This thing is weak compared to the team sampler

The Team Sampler will begin this weekend and will be a weekly update on NFL teams other than the Patriots and Giants. It will include news, signings, firings, injuries, and anecdotes from that city's local paper and fans. It should be a great segment, and hopefully by the time we reach next season, we will have expanded everyone's knowledge about every team in the NFL. Maybe you don't know enough about the Houston Texans or the Kansas City Chiefs. Our goal is to change that. Maybe you want to find the best fantasy sleeper, maybe you just want to be able to bet on as many games as possible. Either way, we'll be happy to help.

If you find anything about any NFL teams other than New England and the Giants, please send them to the oracle. And, if you are a fan of a team other than these two (do we have any readers like this?) then please e-mail us about your team. The outlook for next year, what you'd like them to do, and any anecdotes that you can share.

Team Sampler 1 is coming this weekend: the Philadelphia Eagles. I spoke with Gilby on Monday, and let's just say that he's in a dark place.

I could have sworn there were mini-tacos in the Team Sampler. No?
